Today I have become a Pokemon trainer... You don't know how happy that makes me, after my mom and I having to save money for so long, just so I could be here.
I went to the Element Labs, where I met Professor...Ash. Ash Ketchum. He was once that famous trainer...wasn't he? The one who gave Team Rocket so much trouble? I think he even meddled with Team Magma and Aqua. But that was a long time ago...
Anyhow... My first Pokemon is a Ghost Skitty. Thats right, a Ghost Skitty. Apprently, normal attacks go through her, just like Ghost Pokemon and she even has two or three ghost moves, though I do not know of them yet. However, she looks just like a normal Skitty to me. She needs some work on staying soild though. I have named her Gem...she is a very cute, nice Pokemon.
I then ventured out to route one.
As I walked, with Gem beside me, I saw another pink Pokemon. I don't know what it was, but it was cute. Still, I have all the cute, pink, Skitty-like cuteness that I could ever want in Gem.
Next I saw yet another Pokemon I've never seen before. I belive it was one of the starters avilible at the Element Labs...a Meowkip? I jumped at the chance to capture it! By working together with my dear Gem, I managed to catch it on the second Pokeball. Not too bad, I dont think.
Soon after, I reached Magma City...
It's very grey...and dull, in Magma City. Not at all firey like the name implies...
I went to the Pokemon center and then to the gym. Outside of the gym I saw a sleeping Magma grunt. I was shocked! Team Magma....here? Why? Oh, I fear they may have something sinister planned!
When I went into the gym, I found that there was no light...what-so-ever. I ended up bumping into yet another Magma grunt. He doesn't look very happy, but I'm ready for a battle anyway! We shall see how this turns out...

Magma City Gym
I have defeated that grunt that I bumped into, but not before his Charmander manged to faint Gem. Thankfully, Wave, my faithful Meowkip, defeated his Charmander. The grunt vanished as soon as I defeated him though...
I kept walking. I could see the leader in sight, but then yet another grunt appeared, jumping in front of me. This grunt had a Cyndaquil, but my Wave managed to beat it as well. I kept going, untill I finally reached the gym Leader, Ember...
Ember was tough. She had a Pyrokat and Charmeleon. I certainly wasn't expecting the Charmeleon...such a strong Pokemon, at the first gym, too. But Wave beat them, both of them! I was amazed at my Meowkip's strength, I never knew how much of a fighter he was. I obtained the badge. Ember's advice was to not go to the Volcano. Why? What's up there...?
After I left the gym, I went to the Pokemon center. I must now focus on training Gem...
The Volcano.
Climbing the Volcano was easy. On the way up, I saw a Torchic! I tried to capture it, but failed. Then I saw a new Pokemon. My Pokedex told me that it was a Firly. I tried to capture it, but Gem ended up making friends with it. I asked if it would like to come with me, the Firly, whom I have named Firefly, agreed. Wonderful! Next, I shall search for a grass type Pokemon, or at least a different type from any of the Pokemon I have now. I want a balanced team.
When I reached the top, I found out that the volcano really isn't a volcano at all! It's a valley! Full of Groudon! Amazing, a colony of legendary Pokemon...I shall write more on what I find there tomorrow.

Well, what I found on the Volcano was quite explosive. I found a Groudon, aming a Solarbeam at me and Gem. We dived out of the way in time and entered into a battle, between Gem and the Groudon. Wow...I never thought I'd see a Skitty battle a Groudon, Ghost Skitty or not. This should be fun!

Volcano.
My battle with the Groudon raged on. What a tough Pokemon! But I expected no less from a legendary. Gem gave a valent effort, but in the end, I had to return her. When I did, I gave my Firly, Firefly, a turn. He did a good job! He finished the Groudon in two turns, first with a Wing Attack and then with a Peck Attack. The Groudon fell over and though I didn't notice it at first, fainted. It's too bad...I didn't want to battle it...I would have rather made friends with it. Oh well...the past cannot be changed...a lesson of which some of my...family members...have taught me.
As I was leaveing the Groudon, I noticed a Pyrokat, Furchie, and a Firly stareing at me, quite curiously. It is as though they had never seen humans before...Why, I wonder? Well, I suppose not many people would climb a would-be volcano, but surely there have been others before. Of course there has.
All these Pokemon stareing at me...I wonder what runs through their minds as they do so...

Magma Volcano.
My ghost Skitty, Gem, has taken to talking to the Furchie who was watching us earlier. They seem to be getting along...I think their making friends. The Pokemon who were with the Furchie earlier, however, seem to have left him. I think Gem is worried about this...but it is hard to tell with her.
As I was watching Gem talk to the Furchie, the ground started to shake and I turned to see a trainer and her Pokemon battleing it out with yet another Groudon. The battle was very fierce! The trainer and her Pokemon were quite impressive. However, the trainer decided to catch the Groudon. I'm not sure what to think of that...I don't really like it, but on the other hand, there are many Groudon up here...so, I guess it's okay. I asked her what she was going to do with it. She plans on training it and hopefully becomeing friends with it. I hope it works out for her, but I must admitt...the Groudon doesn't seem to like her that much.
I wonder if this trainer is headed to the same place I am...most likely she is...

The trainer I was talking before and I are now traveling together on route 2. Her name is Lily Kasai...she seems nice enough. Her Pokemon are very friendly and seem to like me. I've noted how she seems to prefur to keep her Pokemon out of their balls, as all of them are out right now, except for the Groudon she caught earlier. That Groudon most likely makes her nervous...but I certainly don't blame her.
I wonder what will happen next...something fun and exciteing, I hope!

Route 2
While Lily and I traveled on route 2, we saw wild Pokemon. Three in general. A Charmander, Meowchu and Meowkip were playing a game of tag when we happened upon them. Lily's Mewmoth, PIkafloat and Meowkip joined in the fun as well as Gem, my ghost Skitty.
At that point, I wondered away to go inspect some of the magma that mixed in with the water on this route. What a strange site. It is known that inside of volcanos, gems of many sorts may form...but when I got the top of 'Magma Volcano' I saw no such volcano...just a valley. Where was the cone? The gaint pit of lmagma? Where had all the lave come from then? Perhaps it came from the route you can take to go through the volcano? How odd. If I went back there, could I find any jewels? As a treasure hunter...of sorts, I'd like to know...ah, but no time now.
Gem came over to me, and when I looked up, Lily was leaveing us. She doesn't make for a very good traveling partner...ah, but I could have always told her that I was inspecting the lava and river mix...I suppose. Still, I think I should continue this journey, alone. Or at least for awhile...
Wow, I talk to much. Even if this is my journal...well...at least I don't stutter in my journal. Onwards to the next village!

Aqua Village
I made it! I've finally made it to Aqua Village.
This is great...it's not that the trip took so long...I guess I was just getting tired of seeing so many fire Pokemon, dispite the fact that their one of my favorite types.
Well, first thing I did was go to the Pokemon Center. I'm sure my Pokemon were quite happy about that. Then I went over to the Pokemart...I've been meaning to buy supplies, only to find that I don't actually need so much. I bought one pokeball, two potions and two revives. I can't say it was a waste of money though.
And now I'm off to the gym. I quite sure they'll have plenty of water Pokemon in there...I have two fire Pokemon, one Water Pokemon and Gem, my ghost Skitty, a normal Pokemon. I guess I'll be useing Wave and Gem. Ah, well, they do need the training.

Aqua Village
As I was walking toward the Aqua Village gym, I noticed something. There were Team Aqua members! Everywhere! I'm not as surprised after coming from Magma City...but It's still a little unnerving.
As I was about to enter the gym, a Team Aqua guard stopped me. I had a battle with him, my Ghost Skitty V.S his Buizel. That Buizel was actually kinda funny to watch but in the end, Gem won.
When I got inside I found that there was a huge maze in there. I ran into a dead end quickly. Then I went back, retraced my steps, went straight and found a fork in the maze. Just when I was about to choose a direction, the walls shifted. Well...whatever, I just continued onward. And when I did, columns shot out of the floor and made a staircase, taking me to the top floor. When I got to the top floor, I found that to continue on, I had to walk on the tops of walls. I'm afraid of heights so...I just took a deep breath and with Gem's 'meow' of encouragement, I just continued walking. I took the path to the right, which led me right past the gym leader. That annoyed me...I took another right and it led me nowhere. Then I saw a telepad. I decided to just go ahead and use it. And when I did...I found the gym leader! Thank goodness. That took forever. First battle was Wave, my Meowkip, against the gym leader's Swampsian. I realize that doesn't seem smart, but I had intended to save Gem for any of the gym leader's stronger Pokemon. When that battle began, chaos broke lose. The gym leader started throwing combos at me, so I threw a few of my own at him. But had much to learn about using combos. I really didn't have any idea how to use combos. The gym leader's Swampsian was doing all sorts of things, such as using Water attacks to flood the gym floor and cave in the gym's ceiling. Somehow, Wave and I had managed. In the end, both the gym leader's Pokemon and mine had fainted.
Second battle was Gem against the gym leader's Wartortle. The battle against the gym leader's Wartortle was pretty routine. We both stopped using combos. In the end, Gem tried her best, but ended up fainting. Oh well. That Wartortle didn't last long when I sent out Firefly, my Firly. Just two attacks and it fainted!
The third and last battle was my Firly, Firefly, against the gym leader's Quagsire. Quagsire! I sure wasn't expecting this Pokemon, for whatever reason. Well, this battle wasn't too bad. I used Firefly's speed to my advantage to defeat the Quagsire.
Which means I won! I got the second badge. I bid the gym leader farewell and left. Now I'm headed to the Aqua Waterfall. But I'm not going to climb it like I did Magma Volcano. No...I'm going to go right through it! I know there may be more Pokemon to encounter if I do that. Which is a good thing. I admit, I don't really need any more Water Pokemon. I got Wave and so far he's been doing a great job. But at the same time...that gym leader was tough...my Pokemon need the training.

Under the Waterfall
At this Moment, I find myself walking through a cavern, under the Aqua Waterfall. Yay...more Water Pokemon. Not that I don't like them...
I suppose I should write about this after I get out from under the Waterfall, but I just wanted to state my goals here real quick.
1. Battle at least one Pokemon. 2. Capture a Pokemon that stands out to me.
Thats all. I'll write more later.
An hour or so later...
Goodness, I ended up getting luckier then I ever thought I would. I'm out of the Waterfall now, but here's what happened while I was inside...
The cavern was very cool...little droplets of water kept falling on me. Not long after I entered the cavern, I heard a noise. 'Smooch?'. Of course, I froze...like usual. When I did look down, I saw a Smoochum and the poor little thing started crying, instantly. Gem and I went over to the baby Pokemon to check on it and then we heard a hiss. Smoochum pointed over at a dark shadow and suddenly a Sableye jumped out and made a slash at it!
I decided to protect the little Smoochum. I was going to use Furchie, but Gem really wanted this battle...so I let her. All she could attack with was Faint Attack, since Normal attacks (and Gem's Fighting type move, Wake-Up Slap) don't phase Ghost types. Even so, Gem managed to win! Good, she needed the training. I threw a Pokeball and caught the Sableye. I'll name him Chaos...I bet he'll like battling, just like Wave. Then Smoochum, of her own will, told me that she wanted to come with me as well. So I got a Pokeball out and she went inside of it. Now I also have a Smoochum. I shall name her Rini (Re-Ne) .
After that, I was ready to get out of there. The exit was in sight, but then I heard another noise. So I went down the other path way and found a Pikafloat. It led me to an underwater lake. I was surprised...for some odd reason, I didn't think their would be as much water down there. Then I heard a voice, inside of my head...
And before I knew it, a Pokemon jumped out of that lake. It was Kyogre! The legendary Pokemon, that long ago, expanded the world's seas! Apparently, there are more Kyogres elsewhere, but not many. But I thought all Kyogres lived in the world's seas... As a matter of fact, I asked her why she was here, instead of in the ocean. According to Kyogre, it was a Groudon who trapped her here...she looked so sad. I offered to help her in any way I could and she allowed me to catch her. But only so I could put her back into the nearest ocean I find. Kyogre does not belong to me...I am only doing her a small favor. I really don't believe in using legendaries on a Pokemon team. Especially not without their consent.
After that, I left. Volt City, here I come!
...And I promise Kyogre, I'll do my best to get you back into the ocean.

Volt City
So I had finally arrived at Volt City. As I was walking, I saw a little run down shop. I must admit, at first, I didn't really think that there would be very much inside...but I decided to give it a try anyhow. I didn't want to miss out on anything, you know? So I went inside and met the shopkeeper. He was very nice man, I was a bit surprised at how friendly he was. He seemed to take a liking to Gem, too. He let out his own Pokemon, a Glameow, and the two started playing. If I recall correctly, his name was Tim...
When I asked Tim for suggestions on what to buy, he told me that he had a few things that Gem could probably use. The first thing he mentioned was a Moon Stone, but when he did so, I could see Gem shiver at the mention of it. It would appear that my Skitty has no desire to evolve. The second things he mentioned where some Ghost-type TM's that would compliment Gem's ghost side nicely. He had Shadow Ball, Night Shade and Nightmare. I choose Night Shade. He gave a discount on the TM, too...that was very nice of him, TM's aren't usually cheap. After that, I bought five Pokeballs and then said goodbye to Tim.
When I left Tim's shop, I went over to Tom's shop. I heard him mentioning HMs...I realize that those are even more expensive then TMs, but they are also very useful. Tom had quite the assortment, too. He had Flash, Cut, Strength, Fly and Rock Smash. I bought the Strength HM. After all, all of my Pokemon are fairly small right now and they can use the extra muscle power. Heh...I never thought I'd do so much shopping in Volt City.
After I left Tom's shop, I finally went to the Pokemon Center. Nurse Joy was as nice as ever and quickly healed Gem. After that, we headed over to the Volt City Gym...
Volt City Gym... When I walked into the gym, there was Elektra, sitting right there, waiting for all challengers who may come. I thought I might have to battle her right then in there but it turns out I didn't have to. She told me that, in order to battle her, I would have to answer some questions first. I didn't mind at all. Except...I was a bit worried when a robotic arm shot out of the wall behind me and snapped a metal collar on me. I asked her if it was shock collar, but she told me it wasn't. Then the questions started coming. The first one was 'What is the fastest Tynri exclusive Water Pokemon?' I didn't know the answer and guessed Meowkip. I got it wrong and battled against a Pikachu using my Smoochum, Rini. Rini won (and might I add that I am very proud of her! ) and we moved on to the next question. The next question was 'Which is the smallest Pokemon?' I said that both Budew and Burmey were around the same height of eight inches and that eight inches was the smallest height recorded for a Pokemon. And I was correct! Next question was 'Which of these moves are not learned by Skitty? A. Faint Attack. B. Wake-Up Slap. Or C. Scratch.' I knew that one for sure...yes, Skitties have claws, but they do not learn Scratch attack. Again, I was correct and I passed the test. Elektra then agreed to battle me and thankfully, that metal collar came off of me. I had actually forgotten that the collar was there, I must have grown used to it but I was glad when it came off.
The first Pokemon I sent out was Chaos, my Sableye. He seems uncontrollable at first, but he always behaves for me. The first Pokemon that the gym leader sent out was Raichu. Through out the battle, I noticed that my Sableye battles like he is possessed. He zigzagged and cackled and give a creepy, toothy smile as he battled and I'm pretty sure he scared the gym leader's Pokemon. Or at least creeped it out a bit. I know he's a Ghost-type, but I think there must be something a little...extra scary about him to other Pokemon. Anyhow, Chaos won the battle, finishing off the gym leader's Raichu with Night Shade.
Next, Elektra sent out a Raisan. I returned Chaos and sent out my Furchie (I still can't decide on a nickname for him... ). Furchie is part Ground-type, so I figured that he'd be a perfect match. He seemed to study the gym leader's Pokemon carefully...he's of the curious type, he always wants to know more about something, be it a thing, person, or another Pokemon. Well, the battle went well and Furchie defeated the Raisan with his Flame Wheel attack.
Raisan was the gym leader's last Pokemon, which means I won and got my third badge. I thanked Elektra for the battle and then headed for the Pokemon Center. After I healed my Pokemon, I continued on...
...Lets see, my next route is called...'Shard Caves'.

Element Rest Center
Today was a very interesting day. Very interesting indeed.
As I was leaving Volt City, I heard people talking about a place called 'Element Rest Center'. Apparently, it is a place where people can relax and even stay awhile...a hotel. And no matter where you are in the Tynri region, you can almost always stop in the Element Rest Center. It gives people a chance to come together. It sounded really nice, so I decided to check it out.
I was a bit hesitant to go inside. I worried that the place might be filled to the brim with people...I'm not very social. When I entered the Element Rest Center, I was a little surprised at how small it was. It looked like a modern log cabin...but it was very warm and cozy, so I did not mind much. As for people there were not very many. As a matter of fact, only one person stood out to me...and he was reading 'Warriors' by Erin Hunter!
It took mental preparation, but I managed to gather up my courage and ask him about the book. The boy's tone was cold and he had a harsh look to him. Once he looked up at me, I noticed something. There was a big red 'R' on his jacket. That meant that he was a part of Team Rocket. Well...I don't mind very much. I've seen Magmas...and I've seen Aquas here, so I suppose seeing Rockets makes enough sense.
Well anyhow, our conversation about the book wasn't terribly interesting. Apparently, a store nearby was selling it. Funny how I never saw that store. He enjoyed the book well enough, said it had a good plot and characters. He just thought that it could have been written better. After the little mini conversation he asked me the time. When I told him, he said that he'd stay another night and told me his name. Masaru. Curiosity then compelled me to ask Masaru if he was staying at the rest center while on a trip. And thats when the interesting part of the day started...
He told me that he was going to become a Pokemon trainer and while doing so, solve a mystery. After which he quickly added 'Though this be madness, yet there is method in it.' Did...did Masaru quote Shakespeare...? I cannot be sure...to be honest, I never really got into Shakespeare...I know the 'Tragedy of Julius Ceaser', and thats about it. To my dismay, I couldn't help myself from asking him about the 'madness' he was speaking of. I did feel guilty for prying, but thankfully, Masaru didn't mind. But what he said next was a little bit shocking...
Masaru has lost memory of fifteen years of his life. Everything he knows about his life, he carries with him in a little black book. Now Masaru is searching the Tynri region for answers about his life. He said that he was found on the side of the road leading into Earth Village when he was fifteen. That caught my attention. Seeing as I just left Volt City, I need only to get through the Shard Caves and Slumber Forest and then I will arrive in Earth Village.
I told Masaru this and he seemed to take interest as well and...was it just me or did I catch a small glimmer of hope in his eyes? I agreed to look out for clues about him once I got to Earth Village. Yes, once I get there, I plan to ask Nurse Joy if they have a library containing records, or anything like that. Masaru then told me his full name. Masaru Takeshi Ootari.
Masaru and I will keep in touch through the letters we send back and forth through my Firly, Firefly. That way, other people shouldn't be able to read our letters. And best of all, we plan on writing to each other pretty often...we're going to be penpals. I ,personally, think thats great. I've never had a penpal before, hopefully it'll be fun. I think it's made Masaru happy too...I saw the slightest smile come from him.
One last thing I remember from talking with Masaru. He asked me why I was helping him. Was he...suspicous? It makes me a little sad to think so. Ah, but as for the question, I am not worried. My answer was honest; there was nothing more that I could do except tell the truth. He seemed to believe me. Thank goodness.
After all that, I decided to leave. I came to relax, but I think I regained all my energy just by talking to Masaru. Said goodbye and now here I am. Another mission has been added. And I hope I do well, because success is almost never a 100 percent guarantee.
Missions: 1. Return Kyogre to the Sea 2. Collect information on Masaru Seeing as I'm going to be reaching Earth Village before the Sea, I'll be working on finding information for Masaru first. I don't know if I'll find anything though...
Heh heh...on a lighter note, it was only after I left the rest center that I found out that Gem had been asleep the whole time. Gosh, she's so cute. -Jennifer Rose Gemstone
