Day 1 - Today, I finally leave home. My mother smothered her paw in ink and placed a print here, as something for me to remember her by. It's strange, almost like there's a piece of her inside my journal now. As expected, the Professor didn't have any Riolu. He said he had one before. Strange... I wonder if I will meet the person who got the Riolu instead. I got an Eevee, though. He seems perfect. I also got a starter pack, including a pokedex. A fascinating gadget, it has data on all of the 500+ pokemon that have been discovered. I set off for Route 1 today, my first step on a long journey. What makes me glad is that me and Eevee are doing it together.

Day 2
-
It's not as bad as I would have thought, sleeping out under the stars. We erected a tent and spent the night there. My sleeping bag is warmer than I expected; mother must have spent some time choosing a suitable one.
An early start this morning. I am starting to glean a little of Eevee's personality. He seems slightly hyper and quick to act, but very caring. I hope we will get to know each other better in time.
We came across our first wild pokemon today. It was a Sudowoodo. I checked it up on my pokedex. It's amazing, how it manages to disguise itself as something it isn't.
Later, we came across a second; a Mantine. The pokedex said they usually were docile creatures, but this one seemed angry at us. I think Eevee disturbed its sleep. We got away alright, though. Eevee's challenged one of the Mudkip around to a battle. I wonder how this will turn out?

Day 3
-
The pokemon were more eager to battle than I though; as soon as we started the battle with Mudkip, up came another two pokemon! A Meowkip and a Pikafloat, they also wanted to battle and get stronger. After a few unsucessful attacks, the Pikafloat decided it was going to battle us instead of Mudkip, and sent off a Spark. We're in battle with it now. Oddly, it knows Hydro Pump. I didn't think that Pikafloat could learn such an advanced move...

Day 3 (cont)
-
I managed to capture the Pikafloat. It'll make a good addition to my team.
I reached Magma city today. It's completely grey; the buildings are constructed out of concrete, giving the city a dull feel. I'll heal my pokemon and rest up for the night before challenging the gym.
Day 4
-
Early in the morning, I stopped off at a curious place. It's a stimulated environment where they house rarer pokemon. I managed to capture a Corleo there; while it's part electric, like Pikafloat, I can still use it in my team, as it learns a variety of moves. Now I have three pokemon in my team; probably enough to beat the gym leader.
The gym was guarded by a person in uniform. It was strange, though; the uniform was reminiscent of the team Magma in Hoenn...
Inside the gym, it was completely dark. Maybe it's like the fighting gym in Hoenn, where if you beat the trainers inside, you get a brighter light. No trainers were in here, though; I did run into some more Magma grunts. One wanted to battle me, but I quickly dealt with him. The lights /did/ seem to get brighter. Interesting...
Later, I came across the gym leader, Ember. She also was wearing the Magma uniform. Something strange is going on here... but I'll battle her, nonetheless.

After beating Ember, she gave me the gym badge. It's a Magma emblem, etched in metal.
This has confirmed my suspicions that there is a branch of team Magma in this region. Ember seems to be some sort of leader for them. She commented on my pokemon; how strong they were. Maybe this team aren't as bad as I first thought...
As I was leaving, she mentioned something about Magma volcano. What was it again... 'It's not safe up there, with the researchers and the Groudon...' I am intrugued as to what she means by 'researchers', and the word Groudon in that sentence has caught my curiosity. I have to take a look for myself. After healing my pokemon, I'm going to take a hike up Magma volcano, to see what's really up there.
