Okay, we're here, helloooo... where's the adventure? First, we're supposed to be attacked by pokemon. Then we're supposed to screw everything up, and either barely survive or become friends with the enemy. And then come the intrusive, irrelevant sub-plots! Come onn~ Ian had been mentally noting and complaining every second for the last 43 seconds, which was how long it had been since they officially entered the route. Time always slows down when you're waiting. Glancing around, his rayquaza eye fell on Heights again. He really needed to talk to him already, but what on earth was he going to say? He didn't know anything about him...
(( Short, semi-sweet and not really to the point, but at least we have a thread now ))

Heights glanced casually at Ian, who looked rather uncomfortable. The reason for this was anyone's guess, as not even the mysterious Heights could read minds, which annoyed him occasionally. And yet, his silent smirk remained. Is this what friends were like? He could have sworn it involved more communication... or was Ian expecting him to start things off? He pulled out the Pokeball that contained his Zangoose and stared down at it thoughtfully. Are all friends the same? Is a Pokemon as silent? After all the lack of noise in his life, the last thing he wanted now that he was finally making his own decisions was a silent life. Unsure what else to do, he tossed the ball in front of him and watched Flash materialize in a shroud of red light. The Zangoose looked around at the environment, then at Heights, recognizing him as his trainer. He then turned to Ian, and eyed him suspiciously. ~Zangoose,~ he warned, narrowing his eyes. Heights looked at Flash curiously, unaware that he was being territorial and not just saying hello. "Hey,"[/i] replied Heights tersely. Flash shot him an odd look, as if to tell him that he was crazy. Heights responded by raising his eyebrow slightly.

Route One seemed to be bursting with life today. All the Pokemon were running about, having contests of some sort. Overhead the flying Pokemon chirped gleefully, landing in the trees to the right a bit ahead. The grass Pokemon scampered along the ground, jumping up and down. The bug Pokemon were further away, but they too were having fun in the trees. The only thing missing was the Water Pokemon. They were far ahead, and so was the lake. You'd only be able to see them once you got closer to Magma City.
The Pokemon didn't seem to notice the two beginner trainers that entered the route. They acted like they didn't have a care in the world. The species of Pokemon were a bit far away, so you wouldn't be able to identify the species until you got close to one of the groups. Which way will you go, to the flying, to the bug, to the grass, or far ahead to the water?

"Erm, I don't think he's in much of a mood for introductions" Ian raised one eyebrow, forgetting for a moment that humans couldn't understand pokemon without practice. Unless, he noted, it was a certain famous meowth. Or a chatot. Oh, right, a chatot! Just for practice, he let his new pokemon's ball fly with a rather impressive spin to it... though it didn't go very far, it still had the desired effect. A chatot was released, which immediately flew over to Ian, perching on his shoulder. Yes, the sailor with mutations that could easily be covered by an eyepatch and hook had a parrot on his shoulder, though this resemblance was lost on Ian. Turning his head slightly sideways to see his pokemon with one eye, he spoke to it, "Hey, what's up?" "Hey, what's up?" Ian immediately recoiled at the exact mimic. He sounded... exactly like him. "Hehe, that gets 'em every time." This time, the chatot sounded more like a parrot. Well, except for the fact it was talking in self-composed full sentences. Clever bird.
